3rd Annual Erwin M. Vasquez MD Latina Scholarship Award




Dr. Erwin Vasquez, founder of the Light of the World Clinic always believed in empowering those less fortunate in our community. In 1989, he started the Light of the World Clinic, a free volunteer-based clinic where all uninsured and low-income Broward County residents could seek quality culturally sensitive medical care and treatment.

In memory of Dr. Vasquez and his spirit of giving back to the community, this scholarship will be awarded to a deserving Woman of Hispanic Heritage for her continued professional development and success through education and community service.

Amount of the current scholarship to be awarded: $1,500

Application deadline: July 3rd , 2014

Finalist Notification: August 1st, 2014

*Notification of Award Winner: August 16th, 2014

*Winner will be announced at the Hispanic Women of Distinction Charity Luncheon at the Signature Grand

General criteria:

You must have chosen a specific educational path that will assist you in achieving economic self-sufficiency, economic independence, and full participation in the workforce.

The applicant must be enrolled in a degree-seeking or certification program at a fully accredited school or college.

You must include a description of the specific program and the educational institution for which the scholarship is being requested. Acceptance into the program or course is not required at the time the application is considered.

Acceptance into the program will be necessary for the money to be disbursed, and it will only be disbursed directly to the educational institution.

You must be a resident of Broward, Dade or Palm Beach County and must not have been a previous recipient of this award.
